GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL SECRET SET ANNOUNCED AS 00S ROCK BAND CONFIRMS APPEARANCE

Kasabian have confirmed they will be one of the secret shows at Glastonbury this year.

The Leicester rock band had not been announced as part of the festival’s line-up, and there had been a blank spot in the Saturday timings for the Woodsies stage between 6pm and 7pm.

Kasabian wrote on X: “It’s Happening! See you 6pm at Woodsies @‌glastonbury. They also shared a video of the band’s members in a car and, an image of Glastonbury Free Press saying: “It’s happening, 18.00 Saturday.”

This will mark Kasabian’s first Glastonbury performance since the departure of frontman Tom Meighan in 2020. The former frontman was sacked after it emerged that he had assaulted his partner, Vikki Ager.

Meighan was sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid labour and has since married Ager. Meighan has subsequently hit out at Serge Pizzorno saying: “I felt like I was being watched. Serge was edging and edging to be the frontman for a long time. I was basically put in a cage and let out and then put back in again. Very, very egotistic leader. It is what it is.” Meighan meanwhile has launched a comeback and is on tour later this year - where he plays a number of Kasabian songs.

As Glastonbury welcomes back Kasabian for the first time since 2020, Tom Meighan is absent from the bill - despite him having playing a handful of festivals this summer. He played at the Isle of Wight this month and has also supported Noel Gallagher. But his appearances at festivals after his conviction have been mired in controversy.

Several acts pulled out of last year’s Be Reyt festival in Sheffield after he was included on the bill. Organisers defended his inclusion saying he had apologized and deserved a second chance.
